Takai, Japan's largest and best known manufacturer of equipment for making tofu (bean curd) and soymilk, was founded in 1917 and now has about 50 percent of the total Japanese market production. Unlike other companies, we produce a full line of equipment ranging from inexpensive tooIs suited for traditional small-scale production to Japan's largest and most modern machinery capable of producing over 300,000 cakes of tofu daily. Our equipment is designed for the preparation of all the seven basic types of Japanese tofu as well as soymilk on the scale of your choice to meet your budget.
Over the past several decades we have had a great deal of experience exporting our equipment to Japanese and Chinese run shops and factories in America, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Now with the growing interest in soyfoods in the West, we have worked closely together with William Shurtleff, author of The Book of Tofu , to develop our first English-language catalog of large‐scale equipment.
All of our large-scale equipment can be ordered directly from us, the manufacturer. Our experienced engineers are available to install your equipment and teach you how to use, maintain, and repair it. Even if you have no previous experience making tofu or soymilk, we will stay and work with you until you feel completely confident. It is our standard practice to have at least one engineer install all whole systems from W60B up to W300, plus most of our larger equipment. The price of all Whole Systems from W60B to W300 and Sub-Systems from S60B to S300 include installation and test‐run charges up to one month, but do not include our engineer's roundtrip air fare from Japan, hotel and any required telephone or fax expenses (except S120A and W120A).
Ordering Information: Please see separate sheet enclosed.
Delivery: Your equipment should arrive at your nearest port within one to five months after we receive your order and L/C.
Phase, Voltage, and Current: On the Information Sheet mentioned in the Ordering Information, be sure to include accurate information about the phase, voltage, and current of your building's electrical source. We will adapt our motors to your needs. Many Japanese motors are 3-phase and work best on 220 (or 200) volts and 50 or 60 cycles, American servce is single or 3-phase, 110 or 220 volts, and 60 cycles. lf you have single phase, you can either (a) bring in 3-phase, which is expensive, (b) convert to 3-phase with a transformer, or (c) order special single phase motors (which are weaker). Each 3‐phase motor requires a magnetic switch and breaker.
Takai offers a one-year warranty beginning from the date that the equipment is delivered to you. In case of machine failure due to defective equipment, Takai agrees to immediately send the required spare parts at no charge to you and Takai will pay the necessary installation charges (ie. plumber, electrician) and communication costs (ie. cables or phone calls) but you must submit proof of expenses for reimbursement. lf that doesn't correct the problem, we may, at our discretion, dispatch a U.S. Service Representative to your plant at our expense. If all else fails we will send a Takai engineer from Japan at our expense. Of course, our engineers guarantee that your equipment is in good running order when they install it. And when our engineers go to North America to install equipment in one place, they will visit other companies using our equipment to do maintenance at the customer's request and expense.
Each customer is responsible for ordinary maintenance and repair on equipment, just as for the operation of an automobile or any standard equipment. We provide maintenance manuals plus elecrical and mechanical schematic diagrams so that most repairs can be made by a local technician.
